Job Description:
The Program Director plans developmentally appropriate educational programs at The Children’s Playhouse and for outreach in the community. The PD recruits and schedules outside teachers and volunteers for in-house and outreach programs in the community.
They are responsible for marketing all Playhouse programs and events via Playhouse’s social media, MailChimp newsletter, and website. The PD assists the Executive Director in grant proposals, planning exhibits, and special events.
A portion of PD’s time is devoted to interacting with families visiting the museum and working with operations and frontline staff to ensure quality visitor experiences. The PD is part of the team planning and staffing special events such as BuildFest.
Qualifications:
College degree required, advanced degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and training in early childhood education, the arts, or STEM; be committed to The Playhouse mission; and understand the challenges and opportunities of providing programming in our informal museum setting.
Strong communication skills are required. Marketing experience a plus.
A criminal background check is required before starting work.

Program Assistants and Clean Team

PROGRAM ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION: The Children’s Playhouse seeks energetic, self-directed frontline staff who love working with children and families and also have a great eye for detail and love cleaning. Must be willing to abide by COVID-19 safety protocols including vaccination. Hours range from 10 to 15 hours a week depending on availability.
We are especially looking for year round residents who can also work during school breaks. Pay is $11 per hour with an eligibility for a raise at 3 months. (Pay rate is higher for Clean Team shifts — see below) Must be able to work for 4 to 5 hour shifts to cover our regular business hours, help during birthday parties, do special cleaning projects, and assist during a few special events throughout the year.
Must be willing and able to clean, carry items up and down stairs, and interact professionally and pleasantly with a wide variety of people including young children and adults. Experience working with children preferred, and ability to work independently and with others is a must. Full vaccination against COVID-19 required of all staff members who work with the public. Criminal background check required if hired. This is not a childcare position.
CLEAN TEAM JOB DESCRIPTION: The Clean Team works after hours to perform deep cleaning of the Playhouse facility. Must be detailed-oriented and motivated to clean the facility thoroughly. Must be able to climb stairs and lift 50 pounds. Pay is $12 per hour with a possibility of a raise after 3 months. Program assistants may also serve on the Clean Team and will be paid Clean Team rates when performing those duties. We also accept applications for Clean Team only. Criminal background check required if hired. This is not a childcare position.
