    Meet other parents, get your questions answered as we learn about the amazing changes in a child‘s brain in the first year of life. Brains and Babies is taught by Gabby Hukill, a certified child life specialist and experienced mother of two.

    For babies from 6-12 months. Registration Required.
    Childcare for older siblings included!

    Learn fun ways to support your baby‘s development in this six week class for parents or caregivers with infants 6 to 12 months old. Your baby‘s brain is going through so many changes during this period. Facilitated by Gabby Hukill.

  • Welcome to The Children’s Playhouse

    We’ve been providing educational fun for kids and friendly support for parents since 2002!

    Located at 400 Tracy Circle, The Children’s Playhouse is open year round for hands-on play for kids from birth to age 8 and their favorite grown-ups.

    For your safety and to avoid crowding, we require play reservations at this time.  If you have difficulty with the form or if you want to come at a different time than the slots offered, please call 828-263-0011 and we can help you.

  • Save the Date: BuildFest Returns April 1, 2023

    BuildFest 2023 will be held from 9-2 pm at Watauga High School. The 8th Playhouse BuildFest will be held on Saturday April 1 at Watauga High School and will feature more than 70 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities for kids aged 2-12 including a giant Cardboard City, an Amazing Physics Show and more.
