    Autumn Kit Play Kit for Ages 2 to 6 Now Available!

    The Autumn Kit has supplies and detailed instructions for 12 hands-on activities including a hardcover picture book The Littlest Families Big Day, a Button Tree box, Leaf Rubbing, Pass the Pompoms, Sticky Paper Collage, Family Tree, Make Your Own Book, Music and Movement with Miss Laura, a Brain Builder Challenge, and more! As a special fall treat, F.A.R.M. Cafe has provided the recipe and all the ingredients for homemade Sweet Potato Applesauce. Minimum Suggested Donation $10 members, $18 non-members to cover materials.

    Donations above minimum support free kits for those in need. If you are a local resident and experiencing financial hardship, you are encouraged to request a free kit. Boxes are also distributed through local agencies including Hunger Coalition, Watauga County Schools and DSS.

    A Special Bonus for the First 30 Families that Sign Up for Porch Pickup: a Dinosaur Fossil Mini-Kit created by local 8th grader and Boy Scout Zack Racz! Check out Zack’s dino video (click here)! 


  • Playhouse Play Kits are a love letter from The Children’s Playhouse to all the families we cannot see in person during the Covid 19 Pandemic. Our child development experts have designed a big bunch of quality, age-appropriate hands-on activities for 2-6 year olds and we’ve packed them up with all the materials you’ll need to complete the projects. We are very lucky to have Dr. Tiffany Christian helping us develop empathy and anti-racism activities and resources for our monthly play kits. Stay tuned for a community story series featuring High Country parents sharing diverse stories and perspectives which will debut on our YouTube channel later this month.     Kids have a blast exploring nine play areas while grown-ups are pampered with complimentary tea and coffee. Music, art, and science programs are offered several times a week and are free with admission. The Children’s Playhouse is a 501 c.3 nonprofit and is a great place to make friends of all ages!
