MISSION

Our mission is to engage children from birth to age eight in enriching, educational play while at the same time supporting their parents and caregivers in the important job of raising children.

We serve as an informal “town square” for the High Country, a unique place where out-of-towners and locals, experienced parents and eager first-timers, and people of all classes are brought together to share the joy of playful learning with their children. Stimulating arts and science-based programs, enticing play areas and exhibits, and informative parenting resources all support this mission.

History

The Children’s Playhouse was founded in 2002 by a group of local citizens who wanted an enriching play environment for children from birth to age eight that at the same time offered parents and caregivers friendly support in the important job of raising children. Ann Kiefert, Beth Darnell, Kathy Parham, Cathy Riggs, Beth Jacquot, Andrea Anderson, and Heidi Campbell were all members of the founding board.
