In addition to the daily art, The Children’s Playhouse offers affordable, high quality STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), music, movement, art, gardening, martial arts, and drama classes for babies through age 8. You may even meet a bunny or a visiting horse!
The activities offered in the art room change weekly, so there is always something new to do! We always have open-ended opportunities to try drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, as well as activities that challenge kids to explore cause and effect and their senses.
For Parents and Caregivers
Thanks to a grant from the Appalachian District Health Department , we've added Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) to our resources for parents at The Children’s Playhouse. We have Triple P Tip Sheets on on many topics parents need and you can browse through these the next time you visit. If you would like to talk through one of the issues listed in the Tip Sheets or other concerns you have, Kathy is available to meet with you for a free ten minute consultation. The Tip Sheets have good ideas you can try and we can meet again in a week or two to see how they’ve worked for you. To make an appointment, email us with "Triple P" in the subject line.
As the kids play, you’ll enjoy the chance to talk with other parents and caregivers over a free cup of coffee (donated by Espresso News) and browse our Family Resource Library. Playhouse staff members are also here to listen and share information.
Lending Library for Parents and Caregivers
Our large lending library covers topics such as toilet training, sleeping, temper tantrums, nutrition, ages and stages, and discipline. You may check out two books at a time for free for two weeks. We are always accepting donations on topics related to parenting, child development, and preschool education.
