Program Director — applications close May 24, 2019

The Program Director will plan developmentally appropriate educational programs at The Children’s Playhouse and for outreach in the community. The PD will recruit and schedule outside teachers as well as creating and teaching programs in house. She or he will also be responsible for marketing all Playhouse programs and events. The PD will assist the Executive Director in grant proposals, planning exhibits, and special events. A portion of PD’s time will be devoted to interacting with families visiting the museum and working with frontline staff to ensure quality visitor experiences. Ideal candidate will have significant experience and training in early childhood education, the arts, or STEM; be committed to The Playhouse mission; and understand the challenges and opportunities of providing programming in our informal museum setting. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Position is 30 hours per week at $15-20 per hour with the possibility to go to full time in the future. Bachelor’s degreee required, master’s or bachelor’s plus significant relevant experience preferred. Criminal background check required if hired. Deadline is May 24, 2019. Assistant Operations Manager — Position Open Until Filled

The Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) assists the Operations Manager (OM) to ensure efficient operations of the museum and high quality visitor experiences. Position involves frontline interaction with families so interest in children and empathy for parents a must. AOM is responsible for monitoring and purchasing supplies, implementing cleaning and safety procedures, and initiating facility repairs as needed. AOM will work with OM to supervise weekend hours and birthday parties to maintain quality operations. AOM will assist with training and supervising program assistants and volunteers.  AOM will also serve as key support for planning and running major offsite events including BuildFest and the Grown-ups Party. Must be able to climb stairs and lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work until 6 pm at least 3 days per week and at least one Saturday per month (The Playhouse is closed Sundays and Mondays). Position is 20-30 hours per week at $11 to $14 per hour with a review at 4 months. Bachelor’s degree required. Program assistants — ongoing

The Children’s Playhouse (goplayhouse.org) is looking for part-time, paid program assistants to staff the nonprofit children’s museum. Hours range from 10 to 15 hours a week depending on availability. We are looking for year round residents who can also work during ASU school breaks. Pay is $8 per hour with a possibility of a raise after 2 months. Must be able to work for 3 to 4 hour shifts, primarily in the afternoons from 2:30-6:00 pm and some Saturdays from 9:30-4:00 pm. Duties include assisting children and adults visiting The Children’s Playhouse; helping keep the facility clean, safe, and attractive; and assisting with office-related projects such as entering data into spreadsheets. Must be willing and able to clean, carry items up and down stairs, and to interact pleasantly with a wide variety of people, including young children and adults. Criminal background check required if hired. This is not a childcare position.
