Families play and learn together at The Children’s Playhouse - rain or shine!.  This High Country destination is located in Boone and close to Blowing Rock, Jefferson, Banner Elk, Wilkesboro, and Mountain City. It offers flexible hours for open creative indoor/outdoor play as well as great classes for kidsand adults.

Playhouse BuildFest a Rousing Success!

cardboard_cityThe first Playhouse BuildFest was held on Saturday, April 12 at Parkway School. Organized by The Children's Playhouse, BuildFest attracted 1000 children and adults. Over 25 arts and STEM-related activities for kids 2-12 were offered by Appalachian State University classes and clubs, Mary's Montessori School, Watauga High School Robotics Club, Watauga 4-H, Mountain Alliance, High Country Girl Scouts, and Boy Scout Pack 199. Sponsors included Othrodontists and Pediatric Dentists Drs. Mayhew, Scheffler, Conn and Hardaway; Appalachian Regional Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine; The Children's Council of Watauga County, Inc.;Earth Fare BooneBluebird Exchange; Boone Drug; Susan and John Stanton; Sarah B. Long Real Estate, Keller Williams Realty; and Blue Mountain Center for Integrative Health.

13 Helping Hands and Helping Arts Honored at the event

Radio personality Sheri Lynch was the featured speaker at our Great Friend to Families Award luncheon on March 22 at the Reich College of Education. Seven "Helping Hands" winners and six "Helping Hearts" were honored at the luncheon and Kaaren Hayes, the long time director of Parent to Parent was the overall winner.
